People nowadays seem to be satisfied ordinarily in going to the mall for window shopping, watching movies, or dining out when they go out for bonding moments with their family and friends. Some are even more contented by playing on their playstation, xbox, wii or just happy browsing their social media accounts.
When my brother and sister in law who work overseas, as well as our cousins from America had their vacation here in the Philippines, we discovered this place what we call “ultimate outdoor playground” at Sandbox, Alviera, Porac, Pampanga.
Sandbox is actually an exclusive getaway for families and “barkadas” out there who love outdoor adventures like me. It features a variety of attractions wherein every member of the family, from kids to grandparents will relish.
Attractions that we did and enjoyed
Aerial Walk Challenge
It is my favorite attraction among the rest because I enjoyed it a lot with my siblings and cousins. The staffs recommended that we have to try this first because it will take us about 30 minutes to finish the obstacles, depending on how fast or slow we are. At first the staff handed us our protective gears consisting of a helmet, harness and a pair of gloves, and taught us how to use it.
It’s an adventure course of nets, rope walkways and ziplines causing me to exert strength under the sun, but it was worth it considering I was able to test my endurance and flexibility.
For those who want to try this challenge you have to be at least 7 to 11 years old, and must be accompanied by a climbing adult, while 12 to 15 years old must be supervised by adult from the ground. It also has a required weight, maximum of 110 kg or 242 lbs.
It is 15 meters high structure where you can enjoy the view of the place as well as the featured activities such as wall climbing, free fall and rappelling. I enjoyed free fall among the three considering I was able to conquer my fear. From my view from the ground it doesn’t seem scary at all, but when I reached the top of the tower, my knees started to feel shaky and numb. I failed to do it in one attempt because it’s too high and horrifying, on the other hand people there were cheering for me. Second try was not successful also and the staff told me not to look downward cause it will just make me feel more uncomfortable so I looked up straight and on the third shot I was able to do it. I felt relieved as soon as my feet touched the ground. Yey!
Avatar One Roller Coaster
Roller coaster zipline ride
It is a roller coaster zipline that zigzags along starting from 12 meters high. It is believed to be the first in the Philippines. Kids below 7 years old are not permitted to take the course and a minimum of 36 kg or 79 lbs and maximum of 110 kg or 242 lbs for safety purposes.
Each swing can shelter three guests at a time, people got pulled up very high up backwards with a rope and then released, creating that back and forth movement at 10-meter above the ground. Children aging 7 to 11 years old must be supervised by adult and the maximum weight limit for this is 180 kg or 396 lbs.
It is the only activity that is included in our package that I intend not to try because I have that impression that the feeling would be the same as when you ride a viking, and I hate that sensation when you feel like your organs are coming out of your body. Nevertheless, my cousins enjoyed this so much.
While the adults are enjoying the other attractions, kids can enjoy this mini golf.
ATV and UTV rides
Rides that passes through the Pasig-Potrero river to give you that exhilarating rustic experience.
It is an entertaining activity with the bow and arrow in an outdoor range perfect for novice archers for kids and adults alike.
They also sell foods and drinks on the vicinity just in case you get hungry or thirsty from the activities and aside from that they also offer souvenir t-shirts that has the Sandbox name on it, I’m just not quite sure of the price range.
