StyleGenie PH turns one!
“I’m blessed and proud to be a StyleGenie Ambassadress.”
Last Saturday, August 26, 2017, bloggers made Society Lounge, Makati go round when StyleGenie PH hosted the Style Academy: Talk Series ’17.
Reasons why I had a great time at Style Academy Talk series 2017:
1. I got the chance to meet the people behind the first ever styling and clothing subscription box in the Philippines, StyleGeniePh headed by Ms. Abbie Victorino.
Getting up close and personal with the founders made me more motivated to become girl boss in the future. #girlpower
2. Guess what? There were seven speakers (YES! SEVEN!) who talked about their fields of expertise. My mind was so fueled with different lessons, ideas and words of encouragement when it comes to fashion styling, being an influencer and a lot more.
MAKE UP 101: Ana Victorino
-Makeup Artist, Youtube Guru at AnaVictorinoTV
Since everybody’s been raving about brows, Ana taught us how to get those eyebrows on fleek. She introduced us the Benefit Cosmetics BROWVO! A conditioning brow primer which helps brows look thicker, healthier & fuller.
BLOGGING WITH A PURPOSE: Shai Lagarde
-Published Writer, Photographer, Stylist, Producer
I’m so inspired with Shai’s story before she became a well- known influencer. I learned from her that as a starting blogger, you have to find your destination, you have to find your VOICE.
Her talk is not just about being an influencer but how to reach your goals as an individual. She motivated me to pursue blogging and make it a platform in reaching out to others.
“Express your dreams/ goals and make sure you act on them, or others will!”
DIGITAL MARKETING FOR INFLUENCER: Christopher Star
-Author, Marketing Director of We The Pvblic
Christopher’s talk became an eye-opener to me. He talked about raising awareness and amusing the audience, it’s about creating interest and turning that interest to desire. As an influencer one must know her platform where people would love to like.
MAKING YOUR STATEMENT: Janno Novenario (JannoStyles)
-Celebrity Stylist for well- known artists such as Yeng Constantino, KZ Tandingan and many more.
I love this guy so much! He’s pleasing personality made his talk alive and amazing. I gained a lot of knowledge when it comes to styling, especially on how to make something originally worn to make a bold statement.
From Showtime to Eat Bulaga to Style Academy. Thank you for making it to the event Janno.
TAKING RISKS IN FASHION: Tal De Guzman
-Owner and Designer of Risque Designs
Same with the other speakers, I was also moved by the words of Tal especially the love she has for the country. Her works showcases the different festivals around the country as well as the Filipino folklores we have.
I admire her for her perseverance in everything she does. Tal inspired me not be afraid to try new things because along the way your family, friends, and supporters will help you reach your goals.
“Do it because your heart is for the Philippines.”
STARTING A CAREER IN FASHION: Chynna Mamawal
-Former Marketing Officer for SM Woman & Girl Teens Wear by SM, Style Curator, Owner of Chynna Mamawal Atelier
Same with Janno, I love this girl so much! At a young age, she was able to put up her own clothing line. I acquired from her that if you’re passionate in what you do and you’re determined to reach your goals nothing is impossible.
I even remember her story when she was still working in SM where she normally works for 10 hours or more, arrives home pretty late around 12 midnight and has no social life. Despite all that, she worked hard and look at her now she’s a successful business woman.
YOUR STYLE CAN DO MAGIC: Bea Constantino
-Celebrity Fashion Stylist for the A- listers in the country such as Solenn Heussaff, Vanessa Matsunaga, Kim Jones and more, Creative Curator at Herman and Co.
This ballerina-turned-stylist taught us that fashion is an affirmation of one’s personality, choose clothes that reflect who you are, regardless of the fashion trends. The main point is “stay true to yourself“. People may have their own negative opinions on how we dress up but who cares, as long as they don’t feed and buy us clothes their perspectives are not essential.
Bea also explained that body shape dressing is such an easy way to choose clothes for yourself. If you feel comfortable wearing a particular style and it’s the right cut for your shape.
3. I met a lot of the most awesome people in the world, my co- bloggers and influencers.
My heart was full of joy because I was able to meet new people who share the same interests and goals with me, new set of friends who will listen without judging me.
4. Free food!
Aside from our minds, our tummies were also energized in the event. We were all treated with sumptuous meals.
5. Amazing Loot Box.
